The National Traffic Agency, together with Panavial S.A., calls on citizens to abide by the speed limits stipulated in Article 191 of the Regulations, creating a culture of respect for the law and traffic rules and thus contributing to the reduction of traffic accidents on Ecuador’s roads. The aforementioned article states that: the maximum limits and moderate ranges of vehicular speed allowed on public roads, with the exception of trains and highways, are as follows:

The maximum speed limit for light vehicles, motorcycles and similar in the urban sector is 50km/h and the moderate range is 50 to 60km/h; in the perimeter sector is 90km/h and the moderate range is 90 to 120km/h; straights on roads is 100km/h and the moderate range is 100 to 135km/h and curves on roads is 60km/h and the moderate range is 60 to 75km/h.

For public passenger transport vehicles, the maximum speed limit in the urban sector is 40km/h and the moderate range is 40 to 50km/h; in the perimeter sector it is 70km/h and the moderate range is 70 to 100km/h; straight roads are 90km/h and the moderate range is 90 to 115km/h and curves in roads are 50km/h and the moderate range is 50 to 65km/h.

For freight vehicles, the maximum speed limit in the urban sector is 40km/h and the moderate range is 40 to 50km/h; in the perimeter sector it is 70km/h and the moderate range is 70 to 95km/h; straight roads are 70km/h and the moderate range is 70 to 100km/h and curves in roads are 40km/h and the moderate range is 40 to 60km/h.
